Recently Mrs Joyce Stephen, latterly of Aberdeen, bequeathed an oil painting by George Kelly to the Tolbooth Museum. It is a striking picture of the Tolbooth and Stonehaven harbour. Although it is not dated it was probably painted in the 1950's as it shows the building without a roof and it is known that the roof was replaced circa 1961. We are gratefull for this bequest as it adds a little more to the known history of Stonehaven.
